There is a desperate need for a new lounge area among faculty and students at TMU. The proposal includes a new lounge area between the entrance atrium and faculty offices. Three sets of hardwood furniture will be provided to allow for a variety of placement strategies, allowing flexible use of the space. The ceiling installation as well as the motion-sensing breathing lights contribute to the creation of a “room within a room”.

The structure creates a sense of respite by converting the unused spaces within its structure into a focal point for socializing, which creates a feeling of comfort. It defines a ‘room within a room’ by serving as a lounge area for students and faculty members while enhancing the ceremonial staircase.
